short shameful confession

I set up Semagic (my LJ client) to use a fixed-width font and expanded its size to 80 columns and 24 lines.

I do that too!

Oh wait, no I don't. My LJ client is a scrap of Ruby that I wrote IN MY OWN WRITE (as John Lennon put it), and it works by firing up vim in the xterm (80 columns wide, of course, but as tall as the screen so no hair shirt there) that I invoke it from, on a text file which looks close enough to an RFC822-formatted message that vim's syntax highlighting thinks that that's exactly what it is, and applies the pretty colors to match.

I reply to LJ posts in the usual fashion though.

My LJ client is a web page. Autosaves as well.

You suck.

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised to find it give me back my last post minus the last few words when opera crashed last time, despite it threatening for a *very* long time not to give it back. Got to figure out what's gone wrong with the new router and/or new version of opera.

There was a time when I would have done something like this. I just don't have that kind of free time anymore, and if I did, I doubt I'd use it like that. I've gotten so lame that I just post using the web front end.

Ah, but is it 7-bit clean?

Come on, try it with 25 lines. Just once. It can't hurt. And you *know* you want to.

Weenies.

32x80 in seven colors with BLInk, REVvideo, and Underline is the one true way. 43x80 if you fell for the last generation.

That's not shameful at all.

Dude, you just admitted - in public - to using Windows.

If you're going to be a nerd like that, at least use charm and vi. :)

I only use charm for archiving. Plus, this way i can do a preview of my HTML, plus Semagic's handy feature of converting two spaces into "  ", which is like they added that just for me.
