I saw a Silicon Valley flyer on Facebook for The IT Flower.  I showed it to my boss and cosysadmins.  The derision in our office was off the scale.  I would really like to see the negative form of the flower, where the axes go off into How Work Doesn't Get Done and Types of Work Avoidance.

Not IT here, but, um, the last time someone tried to sell me on some "flower" metaphor bullshit, it was in the 5th grade, next to my science teacher's poorly drawn chalkboard image of a uterus.

This guy's even more successful at intentionally-bad empty corporate media parody than Tim and Eric, unless he's serious about this, in which case STAB STAB STAB STAB

Shouldn't the graphic show it growing out of a big pile of fertilizer?

Yeah, I sort of took that as writ.

If your points graph into a beautiful flower. . .it's probably because someone is manipulating the data.

...AAAGH DEAR JESUS WTF.

Thankfully I wasted only 20s or so of my life on that, having muted the sound and made strategic use of the slider control thing.

Let's see-- types of Work Avoidance ranges from "Totally goofing off" to "Goldbricking" and How Work Doesn't Get Done ranges from "Impenetrable Bureaucracy (i.e. obstructed by others)" to "Singular Incompetence."

but... but...

[identity profile] drieuxster.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)

If it is your job to form the useless meetings, then isn't one's own Singular Incompetence that the Impenetrable Bureaucracy has achieved, well Entropy Of A Black Hole!!!

So try to understand that there is an alternative to 'never take a meeting with idiots' and that is to be the person who gets paid to be RatBert...
