a synthesis of jazz and corporate erotica
I've really come to love Duke Ellington's music, especially his later work. His piano work is so unusual, in the way he uses it as a percussive instrument ("Chinoiserie" and "Amad" are what stick in my mind). The first songs of his i encountered were "Caravan" and "Money Jungle", off the sessions he played with Max Roach and Charles Mingus (collected on the album Money Jungle).
Anyway, the point of all this is that the first time i heard them was on Young-Hae Chang's immortal SAMSUNG MEANS T0 C0ME, a Flash-based erotic ode (that might trigger epilepsy) to a brand that permeates Korea.
