your daily recap
Spain 4 - Ukraine 0: I turned this game off when the ref red-carded a Ukraine defender for, essentially, standing next to a Spanish attacker who, after breaking away, tried shooting at the goal and fell down. The defender didn't even try to brush the attacker with his hands, and his legs never moved except for running. Even before that, though, Ukraine had their hands more than full with Spain. It's hard to say how good Spain is because Ukraine just looked poor.
Tunisia 2 - Saudi Arabia 2: I'm bummed that i missed this. It sounds like it was an exciting game, with the Saudis coming back from a 1-0 deficit to take the lead, only to see the Tunisians tie in stoppage time. Yahoo! won't let me watch the video highlights for today's games yet with some bogus excuse.
Germany 1 - Poland 0: Poland played a lot better than they did against Ecuador, but another bogus red card appeared when the ref awarded a second yellow card to a Polish player for a harmless foul. Poland held Germany off for the last 15 minutes, but two of Germany's subs put together a goal in injury time (this a minute or two after the Germans hit the crossbar twice in quick succession from point-blank range). Matt Damon played but did nothing notable.

Then I was too cold and sleepy to stay up to watch Tunisia/Saudi Arabia, even though Tunisia is "my team" for purposes of a sweep.

I was worried no one was going to score in †he Germany vs. Poland game. I was not clear why the Polish player got the yellow card that put them a man down. I did think Poland did a good job of holding off the German offense while they were down a man. I also think the Germans deserve some credit for picking up their defense. I really expected Poland to score more goals.
I slept through most of the Spain vs. Ukraine game. What I saw kind of hurt to watch, though.
