president echeverri wishes to clarify his previous statement

(please note that i changed the subject in my previous entry after i caught myself humming the aftermentioned song)

What does Visible Path do?  It's basically social networking for companies.  I'd go into it more, but i'm not sure what i may say at the moment.  However, it goes beyond any social networking tool i've seen (and that's not saying much, since i have little personal use for such beasts).

And, yes, when i first encountered "Webinar" some months ago, i too was seized by a fit of seething ire.  Someone, somewhere, coined that term, and They. Must. Pay.

A friend of mine networks thru LinkedIn.com. Is that similar?

Yeah, LinkedIn was a primary inspiration for VPath.

How many dinars in a webinar?

I first encountered webinar in 2002 when the founder of my company used it in marketing materials to advertize the upcoming, *gulp*, webinar. *shudder* (I feel so dirty.)

I asked about the word, high on my success at picking on him earlier for trying to get me to use the word, bespoke, in technical documentation for an American audience. He kept it, telling me it wasn't his idea, that he'd first heard the word circa 1999 from that company that used Ru Paul to advertize browser-based corporate web meeting tools.

So very, very dirty. Dirtier than when discussing a WoW LARP. But not much.

Gnah. That would be filthy, stinking WebEx. Oh how i hate their product. Macr^H^H^H^HAdobe (FUCK ADOBE) Breeze is vastly superior.

I encountered 'webinar' in 2000 or 2001. Definitely by 2001, when I was attending presentations from webinar platform vendors. It's heinous, but I suppose it's what you do once you're moving your vlog from hobby to business.

Sounds something I could use, thus my curiosity.

Will it be as much like

working for the Hitchhiker's Guide as that demo (http://www.visiblepath.com/flash_demo.htm) makes it sound?

Also, the demo talks all about identifying trusted contacts by frequency and type of contact without examining the content. What about untrustworthy contacts, though? I'd hate to think someone I had to e-mail repeatedly to correct lies he was spreading about me, for instance, would start getting requests to introduce me to people!

Wait, don't I know that voice?

Not Mason Adams, but somebody else who read a bunch of Crimmins & Maeder and other parody books for Dove Audio, isn't it? No wonder I thought it sounded like a spoof.

"Webinar" has nothing on "marketecture" or "solutionize" or "portfolioize", all of which I've heard in the past two months.

But it is quite annoying.

P.S. I'm copying the style of your resume for my own...

Heh, just as i've been considering remaking it to resemble the résumé of one of my ex-bosses (http://www.inorganic.org/~rsr/RoyRapoport.html).

I heard a commercial last night for a "home-enar" (pronounced "home-in-arr"). And yes, since it was spelled out as the website to go for the real estate web-based seminar, it was that stupid. And the domain doesn't seem to work anyway.

Webinar and microsite are among my peeves. 3par loved both. "Let's make our product briefings useless to anyone who would consider using them."

Wow, "home-enar"... that makes "webinar" sound like English.

Shining Path...

Dunno if I trust any company with "Path" in their name, I used to work for one...yikes.

As long as i don't end up working with someone called Abimael, i think i'll be OK.

Well, my company is too small to sign up with VisiblePath (VP) for free...oh well. I use LinkedIn a little each year, and it has brought me some business and some interesting connections. But I have yet to get enough value from it to pony up for a premium account of any sort. Without being able to try VP for free, I wouldn't even consider paying for it. But, perhaps a one-person indy consultant is not the sort of business VP wants to attract anwyay. In any case, I look forward to reading your work raves and rants as you settle in.
