drive-by grammar nazi!

Take a verb that ends in -ce, such as "service" or "replace".  When you add the -able suffix to adjectivize that word, the result should keep the e.  Do not elide it, or the c will become hard.  "serviceable", "replaceable": good.  "servicable", "replacable": bad.

So, to summarize, to make your c hard, drop e.

That spam wasn't about Viagra, it was about prescriptivism!

So, you're now into prescription drugs?

Well, drug addict that you are, perhaps you should have some heroine!

Surely teeth are "replacable", if one is lax in using plaque-remover?

Beat me to it, you bastard.

"I cannot cancel my face," said IBM researcher Nalini Ratha.

I cannot cancel my face.
I CANNOT CANCEL MY FACE.

Faces have to be revoked; you wouldn't believe the paperwork.

Ow, I hurt from laughing. I don't even want to read for context, it'd spoil the fun.

Maybe I'll start using a C with a cedilla, since a silent E just doesn't look right in the middle of a word.

I agree that it looks funny and can lead to pronouncing the 'ea' as 'ee' or 'ay'. But that's English for ya.

Also, i salute your enterprise in considering the cedilla.

Interesting. What's your view on "judgment"?

Ugh. I've spelled it "judgement" for some time now out of stubbornness, but that horse left the barn way too long ago.

Sometimes I become implacable, but with the right sort of attention I will eventually become replacable.
