spanner in the works

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals "ordered California officials to halt preparations" for the gubernatorial recall election in October.

So, the system that elected Davis is now no longer good enough to recall him. Wacky. The 9th is going to catch a lot of shit from conservatives over this, and in this case, they probably deserve it.

more suck

The WUSA ran out of money and closed up shop. I feel guilty because i always wanted to go see the `Rays play, but didn't until the threat of insolvency pushed me to go to their last home game. I sure hope they come back. I'll be a good fan next time, i swear!

more recall-and-the-9th goodness

Via Daniel Weintraub's California Insider journal: Daniel Wiener suggests that the 9th's decision was carefully worded in order to not only lead the US Supreme court to allow the recall vote to continue, but to also block Props 53 and 54 and push them to the March election.
