amphibrachs sound very choppy,
dactyls make the rhythm sloppy.
trochees are the foot for me,

All my high-school English teachers (and hence all my fellow students) pronounced this word as in French. It seemed so perfectly ironic that "trochee" should be an iamb when "iamb" was a trochee. All these years and I never even noticed that M-W doesn't admit to such a pronunciation at all.
