maybe [livejournal.com profile] palecur can do something about this

I just opened a RAM upgrade pack from Sun. Inside it are two RAM sticks, a disposable static discharge strap, and two booklets entitled "Installing DIMMs: Read Me First" and "Upgrading Memory: Read Me First".

SO WHICH ONE DO I READ FIRST?

You're a bright boy; certainly you can do two things first.

You have two eyes, don't you?

And you call yourself a computer geek?

Obviously what you do is install the RAM first, and throw both booklets away. Only afterwards do you fish the booklets out of the garbage and scrape off the coffee grounds, and try to find some clue why it isn't working.

I think that the way to preserve sanity is to read "first" as "beforehand". It does sometimes mean that. They're saying don't just go ahead and install the DIMMs; read the booklets first.

You know how to read?
