And you've reminded me of this filk of the Christian song "Green Grow the Rushes Oh" (http://cunnan.sca.org.au/wiki/Lindisfarne_%28Song%29) which refers to the raiding and destruction of the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne, presumably by Vikings or similar.
