Just speaking to the picture, not the linked article: unless I'm missing something about how modern baseball is viewed in stadiums and on TV, wouldn't this BE TOTALLY INVISIBLE if the press weren't all abuzz about it now? So the only actual effective advertisement from the bases is this free advertisement now?
