soccer report

We defeated our division patsy, GPS (they've won only five times in the last 4 eight-game sessions; i suspect that our division is also the lowest in Off The Wall's league), 5-3, after we'd had a shutout for almost ¾ of the game. Overall, we played a good game... a few defensive lapses, but GPS couldn't take advantage of them, so we ended up OK. Plus, i saved a shot with my mouth (no harm done). I'm not thrilled with the victory, but i guess it beats losing.

saved a shot with your mouth?

What position do you play? I played wing. But that was around 1975! They may not even call them the same things any more! Are you the goalie? Seriously, stopping the ball with your face is pretty kickass. I'd probably have passed out. Not only that but I'd never make it up and down the field any more like when I was younger.

I am the goalie. It wasn't an especially hard kick, which is good since my nose was involved in part.

If you can't make it up and down, i highly recommend playing defense.

yes, i remember about defense now. I was put in as wing to score back in them days.. I was terrified of being kicked in the shins and always had on shinguards. But one day in the locker room when I had my shinguards off, someone who knew I was afraid of being kicked in the shins kicked me there as a joke, and to this day I have a dent in my left shin! I guess I should be glad it didn't break my leg.

My better sports were basketball and volleyball; also ran the 400 m dash and the running long jump. I wasn't so hot at softball, but played. Kudos to you for staying fit enough to play sports now. I must say, the best athletes on our team always played goalie for some reason, if I remember right. I remember two very awesome goalies from my old teams, even if the rest of our team sucked..
