all right, i've had it with you people

The only healthcare system that thrives in a true free market is the one where you get a proctological exam from Adam Smith's invisible hand.  And always remember: a free market is worth exactly what you paid for it.

It sure doesn't feel invisible.

What good

IS a glass dagger, anyhow?

I find that most libertarians shut the fuck up in a hurry about the Free Market when you point out that in a truly free and completely unregulated market, you can buy and sell people.

At that point, they either agree that regulation is in fact a necessary and good thing, and suddenly their whole damn principles are up against the wall and we're arguing about the degree, or they self identify as a person with zero redeeming value that I'll never have to talk or listen to ever again (and really, who the fuck wants to talk to an asshole who values some abstract free market ideal over the rights and freedoms of actual people, because slavery still happens in the world today, and it's not like we never engaged in it in western nations in our collective past either).

Another good example that has actually been suggested by some relatively high up economist (I forget which one, alas) was privatised law enforcement, where you insure yourself with security forces.

I can't see many people going for that one.

I also find that most libertarians shut the fuck up when confronted with the fact that they use public resources like roads. Most of the libertarians I know love their cars almost as much as their guns.

[identity profile] jsbowden.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. I've done that before only to find myself on the receiving end of a dissertation on how much better roads would be if they were private pay for use. Screw that, I go straight to Triple Dog Dare from the get go.

Most libertarians want to be able to pay to get laid by the women who wouldn't fuck them for free.
