hable con ella

Just got back from seeing Almodóvar's Talk To Her. Very good, very moving. I still feel like letting out a tear. It includes a beautiful version of "Cucurrucucú Paloma", which my mother would sing to me (or, more often, to herself). All acting performances were excellent, but Darío Grandinetti, as Marco Zuloaga, was simply superb. There's one scene where he stares, not daggers, but swords at his girlfriend's ex-lover.

The movie is bookmarked by two dance pieces, and i confess that dance seems to be a language that i understand only superficially; i can interpret, to some degree, the emotions behind the movements, but they do not seem to reach me. My experience with dance is rather sparse, though, so perhaps it's only a matter of finding the right dance.

I thought that Talk To Her was terrific too. I hope it does well tonight (http://www.oscar.com/nominees/nom_32100.html). (It's nominated for a directing Oscar, not the foreign-language one (http://slate.msn.com/id/2078411/).)

Oops, and writing (original screenplay) (http://www.oscar.com/nominees/nom_32148.html).

Yes; I was very happy to see that happen.
