six weeks in a cast

I've been bouncing between 'anger' and 'depression' almost without spending any time in the 'bargaining' state.  I'm sick of the cast already.

Do you and Kim want to join me and Sandy for dinner tomorrow night? I think we're going to have sushi. Raw fish will surely make you feel better.

We have a mission to deliver [livejournal.com profile] elmuchacho's new `puter, so you'd have to come to SF with us.

Laaaaaaaaaame. We'll let you guys know what's up. This is a possibility. I need to escape my normal life. It's boring in here.

[identity profile] 2wanda.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a good little sushi place right by David's house in Ingleside (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neighborhoods_in_San_Francisco,_California#Ingleside).

[identity profile] thegodliestlord.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Is Sandy working with you today? You guys should work it out and if she wants to go, i am totally up for it.

[identity profile] glaucon.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
is this some sort of metaphor for the election?

[identity profile] wisn.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Everything which is not a metaphor for the election is a metaphor for avoidance of the election, and is therefore relevant to the election.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear about the cast. Hope the injury heals quickly.

[identity profile] richtermom.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'm unusually bleary-eyed even for 6 a.m., so when I first read this on my friends page, I honestly thought it was someone COMPLETELY different spinning the use of the word 'cast' because he's dealing with drama over, well, a drama. But then I saw the comments were in a totally different time zone and I actually reread.

So today's going to be either getting a lot more clear or I'm in for a lot of REALLY amusing anectdotes.

Casts suck. The one time I had one I clocked the biggest guy in my sixth grade. It was one of the funnest things I've ever done.

You ought to read my previous entry for clarification.

At least she didn't

[identity profile] notr.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
think you were talking about trolling. (You can do that with one hand, right?)

[identity profile] richtermom.livejournal.com 2008-09-06 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. Once I realized, I did, and I'm super super sad you're all plastered up and stuff. That sucks.

I was the only person on my co-ed soccer team that wasn't injured, but I think it's also because I'm the least aggressive player in the league.

[identity profile] twillis.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Would it help to pretend that I've signed your cast with something really rude and inappropriate?

... in invisible ink? ZOUNDS!

Sweetheart, it's PRETEND. We can write it in invisible heroin, if that's what you want.

How about I find a bottle of wine from Chez Ralph, come over and we drink to your sorrows. :)

How about you meet us there tomorrow?

Sticks out like a sore thumb, does it?

I hope it heals properly, and you don't lose any mobility. Get well, man.

[identity profile] devonapple.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to hear that -- I hope that the itching keeps to a minimum. Maybe you should select a less injury-prone sport, like, say, rolling drunks or marathon sex.
ext_8707: Taken in front of Carnegie Hall (teeth)

[identity profile] ronebofh.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
If you aren't getting hurt during marathon sex, you're not doing it right.

[identity profile] devonapple.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
And I suppose marathon sex AND drunk-rolling can both lead to itching, too. ; )

have you thot the obvious?

What is God's Divine Message To YOU about Your Evil Life Of Zin and Moral Turpitude????

Clearly as long as you keep yourself stuck in this performance art piece, as merely the keeper of the Cast, you will never be able to break on through to the Glorious Totally Victorious Mission Accomplishedness of breaking free from the Regressive Behaviors of those who have not accepted the divinity of Dubya.

[identity profile] morrisa.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I both mis-saw the picture on your user-pic, did a double take, and then mis-read the caption as "the world's tiniest vulva will play just for you," did a triple take, and then read back an entry and realized you were in pain, not playing with tiny porcellae, which would be much more fun.

I hope you get better soon. Spend a lot of time with your music collection. It won't regrow connective tissue any faster, but it will help with the anger and depression while you wait!

[identity profile] asienieizi.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Casts suck, no doubt about it. Thankfully you haven't also had surgery and/or a pin put in as well.
Hey, what color cast did you choose?
ext_8707: Taken in front of Carnegie Hall (monterey)

[identity profile] ronebofh.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
No surgery; there were no busted ligaments or broken bones, thankfully.

My cast is just the natural fiberglass color, so it shows signatures more clearly, and i don't have to worry about matching my clothes to it.

[identity profile] eb-oesch.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the anger stage plays a more prominent role if the cause of the suffering happens to be a delirious go-getting sports hero who accidentally wandered into a mid-level amateur soccer game. If that happens to be the case.
ext_8707: Taken in front of Carnegie Hall (goalie)

[identity profile] ronebofh.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
No, nobody here but us amateurs. You can tell who the ringers are because they're shooting from mid-distance and putting balls into the upper corners; they wouldn't risk getting down and dirty with the plebes.

[identity profile] eb-oesch.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I was not clear. I wasn't referring to talented athletes, but bush-leaguers who take their sport too seriously on everybody's behalf. If you're not serious enough to get out of the bush leagues, you shouldn't be serious enough to risk causing injuries like that, assuming the injury was caused by a foul.
ext_8707: Taken in front of Carnegie Hall (picassohead)

[identity profile] ronebofh.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. It's honestly debatable whether it was a foul. I do think the ref should've stopped the game because he should be protecting the goalkeeper within the box and i was, well, screaming in pain. I don't think the guy was taking it too seriously, either. Sometimes, shit just happens.
