does not compute

Why is that that a non-trivial percentage of the interesting people i know insist on being childless forever?  Goddammit, the world NEEDS your genes, you selfish bastards.  You've got to counteract the moron breeders!

speaking as someone who has participated in the breeding experiment, to some success, i can state unequivocally that for 99% of the people who are smart and not breeding it is not the BREEDING that is objectionable, it is the 20+ years of dealing with the results of the breeding that is.

Hmm, if that's the case, i suppose they can always bump out a unit and put it up for adoption to satisfy my demands for good-gene children.

I don't know if I'm one of the interesting people of whom you speak, but personallly, I believe strongly in environment over heredity and thus think that my plan to adopt a 5 year old when I'm 40 is ideal for a variety of reasons.

No, i was not aware of your plans, so you were not personally alluded by my post. Nevertheless, your plan is an acceptable substitute, especially seeing how i have four stepkids but won't have any of my own, although i DO plan to donate sperm because, hey, i'm a swell guy, and so is my sperm.

If your sperm are too swell they won't fit into the egg. Beware.

I'll spread the seed. Don't you worry.

Smart doesn't necessarily mean good genes. Any offspring of ours would probably spend most of its life suicidally depressed.
