I own one of these T-shirts. I encourage you to buy one, too. And remember, sedition today is a patriotic act tomorrow.

Yeah, from a state that gets a considerable portion of its drinking water from Oregon? California out of Oregon!

I've wondered for a while that if I produced a bunch of t-shirts featuring the California state flag altered so the bear is facing the other direction and the words "California Republic" replaced with the words "Go Back To California" if I'd be able to sell them. And now I'm more tempted than usual.
And This Is Gooder How???
I'm not sure I see quite how the balkanization of the USofA would really improve things around the world, any more than any of the rest of these "Christianist Pre-Post-Apocalyptic" Fantasies.
The central problem remains that as long as the Californian Currancy remains tied to the American Dollar, then we are more at risk, based upon the continuing and ongoing federal fiasco. So It would be far simpler to look at fixing the fundamental fiscal fiasco for all of the states of the Union, as well as the Global Holders of American Debt Instruments arbitrated in American Dollars, than simply avoiding the whole Fiscal Problem as if it would simply disappear when the New Republic of California sought to reposition the "Californian Real" over and against any other debt instrument, or medium of exchange.
So why not deal with the real issues - and hence also with the State Fiscal Fiasco of Prop-13, than simply Dick Wave the Desire for All Gay Marriages All The Time Everywhere until the Rapture arrives to rescue the Fiscally Conservatives.

but why not in the right place?
I can, and do appreciate, that for so many americans, those of us from the Fiscally Sound side of the house sound like Strict Marxianist Economic Reductionists - but there is much that comes from a sound Economic Analysis of the process.
At which point we WOULD have to really deal with the question of how valid is the general assertion that California is the 5th Largest Economic Power - ESPECIALLY as that is arbitrated in an American Dollar Position - Coupled as well with the Uniquely Californicated Pro-13 State Wide Fiscal Mismanagement that has helped the so called Housing Boom price Californians out of having permenant quarters....
So as a part of the process of getting americans to start thinking about where they really are, and what sort of Nation-State they really want to be a part of... Who Knows, we might be able to get them to read "the federalist" and the "anti-Federalist" papers... Gosh, maybe even Knuckle Down and become a part of a 'factualist' clique of people who support the actual use of Facts As Facts, and not as Scary Things that must be kept out of Political And Economic Anlaysis.
