j'accuse

I would like to denounce the new movie The Alamo; in a time when America and Americans are under siege by terrorists and indifferent allies, the last thing we need is a movie that celebrates an event in which Americans fought and lost.  We must not glamorize defeat, and we must not propagate a culture of losing. Please join me in boycotting The Alamo. God bless.

If I'm not mistaken, the "culture of losing", i.e. martyrdom, is what turned the Palestinians into a culture of suicide in the first place. "Oh, look how persecuted we are! We invaded Israel on Yom Kippur, and lost anyway! NO FAIR!"

That is scarily accurate, IMHO.

I think you are confusing the Egyptians with the Palestinians?

I'm just going to boycott it because it sucks, okay?

Consider it denounced.

actually, i'd have thought the concern would be a movie that glorified a war we were brought into partially by a bunch of filibusterers who thought absconding with part of mexico would be a Good Thing.

When we turn "victory" into defeat

as well as we have there, the parallel just gets more disturbing. Will Falluja be Dubya's (or should I say Halliburton's?) San Jacinto?

Who are you and what have you done to rone?

Whether you're being sarcastic or not, I kind of figured it was bad timing on the part of Disney to be releasing it now... especially when combined with the dumb luck of it coming out during a week when things seem to be turning to shit in Iraq.

It only got third in the box-office on its opening week-end too.

Et tu, Schwute?

Et tu, Schwute?

Me? No, no sarcasm. Ever. Well, not in my original comment anyway. Merely stating that Disney's timing might not be the best for their film to do well. Not saying they shouldn't put the movie out now, just that others might try to see too much into it.

Or am I a toga-clad jerk who's sticking daggers in your back for saying that what you said may or may not be sarcastic? SSC1: I am sometimes a very poor judger of sarcasm and very gullible and easily trolled. Not as much as I used to be, but still too much for my own good.
SSC2: Your Power Puff Boi^Hy icon makes me think you really are angry, like when you use it while threatening to ass-kick anyone who says "Boi".

The South Park icon, on the other hand, makes me think you just accidentally bit the inside of your cheek before hitting the "Post Comment" button and it really fucking hurts.

I figured the "God bless" would be a huge, honkin' "HAW HAW I WROTE GOD BLESS INSTEAD OF A SMILEY" sign. We're gonna have to up the voltage in your next therapy session.

And it's a ROWDY RUFF BOY. ROWDY RUFF.

Yeah yeah yeah... I was pretty sure you were kidding, but there was this idiot "But what if..." voice in the back of my head.

I will boycott anything you tell me to. Death to fake death in movies!

Je boycotte

I agree. I will boycott it for lack of time and because IT SUCKS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
