donut call

Signed up for the National Do Not Call Registry on Thursday afternoon. Just got my confirmation e-mail a few hours ago. Perhaps they're a tad swamped?

Just registered home/jfax/cell, got the messages in under a minute. They're catching up now that the Slashdot Effect(tm) is over. :)

According to radio news, they were getting a thousand hits per second within the first couple hours of going online. I believe something like over two million people had signed on within the first day.

My wait was similar. Glad it's done. Hope they understand the implications of the rush to sign up.

When I signed up on the first day, I didn't get my confirm email till the next day.

I didn't even realize it was brand new.

My officemate sent around a pointer to it as though he had just happened to stumble on it. I didn't find out until I saw CNN later that night that it was a brand new service.

New York has had a state list for a couple years now, so getting on the national list actually doesn't make that big a difference for us. I hardly even get unsolicited calls from my credit card company anymore. But it's definitely nice to have the additional bite of the FTC behind it.
