many of you have already heard about the acquisition

I have little to say about it, so i'll just let the head simian at Adobe say it all.

"After 9/11, we both realised that being enemies didn't make sense," Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen said in a conference call on Monday, referring to his discussions with Macromedia's then-CEO Rob Burgess.
As you can imagine, Bruce Chizen is very high on my list for the coveted 2005 Asshole of the Year award.

I'm confused - who is calling whom a terrorist here?

Adobe, as near as i can tell, is run by Americans; Macromedia is run by Canadians. Take a wild guess.

I love you like the sweaty, armed and naked brother I never had, but are you sure you want this post world-readable?

I thought about it for a while before i posted it. I toned it down. I think i'm good.

I think he means Adobe is the Coalition of the Willing, and Macromedia is Iraq.

I think he's a soundbyte whore that needs to be beaten.

On this occasion I would like to bring this Kodak moment back to your memory in the form of Bash.org Quote #15689 (http://bash.org/?15689).

<rone> OH BY THE WAY WE'RE BEING ACQUIRED. AGAIN.
<rone> hey, at least we didn't merge with tab.net
<PetrDoubt> Yes, we did.
<PetrDoubt> Verio owns tabnet.
<rone> o fuck

Yes, that was a classic moment...

Suck is a wheel that goes round and round, eh?

"After 9/11, we both realised that being enemies didn't make sense,"

wow. just wow. i am in awe of this guy. i mean, i make some pretty tasteless jokes, but this guy has me beat all to hell.

[identity profile] dr-memory.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good lord. Surely it's legal to beat someone with baseball bats for saying something like that?

I for one welcome our new whorebot overlords.

But hey, at least the next version of the AcroShockFlash plugin will be 3 terabytes, take an hour to load, and will bug you for an upgrade every 10 seconds!

I take no joy in noting that this prediction basically turned out to be 100% accurate.

Well, maybe a little joy.

"After 9/11, we both realised that being enemies didn't make sense," Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen said...

What the HOLY SCREECHING FUCK.

I don't know that it can top the police spokesman who said "We're all nervous after 9/11" to explain why they arrested a guy who tried to pay a debt at Best Buy with a stack of $2 bills, but it's right up there in the competition.

Wow. Really puts things in perspective.

Because of 9/11, we can look forward to Flashistrator Reader. Thanks al Qaeda!

The UK satirical magazine, Private Eye run a section called "Warballs", in which they quote gratuitous and inapprpriate references to 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq. Based on their offerings (although the current edition didn't have any entries), quotes like the above gem are not nearly as rare as they should be.

Nobody expects the terrorist-related acquisition.
