I cannot bring myself to use the term "power pop." Catchy mock-descriptive terms are for dilettantes and journalists. I guess you could say I think this music is for pussies and should be stopped.

I knew Albini back in the 80's Chicago punk scene. He was always very plain-spoken, it's one thing I liked about him.

I've been a long-time fan of his The Problem with Music (http://www.arancidamoeba.com/mrr/problemwithmusic.html) essay, which is sometimes better known as the "Some of your friends are probably already this fucked" essay.

That's a very astute article and should be required reading for anyone contemplating a record deal or even thinking about joining a band.

However, anyone who dismisses the entire power-pop genre as music for pussies is suffering from severe cognitive dissonance.
