I've always maintained that running a race inspired by a guy who died after he reached his goal is, well, suicidal, or at the very least a chronic sign of self-loathing.  Well, if you're one of those people, at least you won't have to worry about having bleeding nipples anymore.

The race is only partly inspired by the story of the messenger running from Marathon to Athens. The modern marathon is twenty-six-plus miles long because that's the distance between two places in England [1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marathon_%28sport%29)].
