bebop bebop!

Sony's finally releasing Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (warning: Flash required). That's the good news; the bad news is that it'll only be in a handful of theaters in a smattering of cities across the US. Why? Because Sony is a bunch of dumbasses and assholes, although that's just speculation.

Anyway, go see this movie. That's an order. It's a blast, the voicework is sterling, and if you've never seen CB on Cartoon Network, this should convince you to stay up late for it.

Bah to cartoon network! Bah! I mainline my Anime -- straight off DVD with no dubbing allowed!

Anyway. Uhm. Me, dork.

I generally don't like dubs, but I friggin' LOVE the CB dubs. The voices are wonderful and fit the personalities exceptionally (and surprisingly) well.

Dub or sub?

Scuttlebutt had it a little while ago that Sony would be providing a sub print and a dub print to each cinema which ran the film.

This was back before the distributor label went from Columbia Tristar to Dimension, though, so no idea if that's still going to be the case.

I had a hell of a time finding a theater here that played a subbed "Spirited Away". I eventually gave up. So i'm not too hopeful.

Mwahahahahaha! It is playing at the Dallas Angelika. I rule.

(Already seen it on DVD, but will definitely go see it again on the big screen.)

Most movies that Sony has put in those theatres have gone on to larger distribution if they've done well -- this seems to be a standard ploy for them.
