join me! or something.

I'm considering becoming a militant agnostic. "Hey, it feels great to not actually know! Ask me how!" Who's with me?

Are you also agnostic about unicorns, fairys, and poltergeists?

In the Bay Area, we are well supplied with fairies.

That's a tricky one to answer seriously. I can't recall hearing about people who believe in unicorns, so i don't think that counts. Fairies and poltergeists, yes, i suppose i'm agnostic about them, although i feel i can heap more scorn on them than i would on gods, because they just play tricks and don't, you know, smite. And stuff. Darn, i lost my "serious" edge.

I once knew a militant evangelical agnostic. He'd berate people.

"Why don't you realize that it's impossible to know whether there's a God or not?!?!" spittle in face, the whole deal. Quite the, er, experience, that.

That is almost exactly what i envisioned. Minus the spittle.

Sorry man

Well, if you laid off the philosophical junk food, you might fit back in it... Burn!

I'm down.

"I feel an intense love for the world, which may or may not be coming from a higher power or I'm just in a good mood or I have a need in my brain to assuage a fear of death and this is how it manifests itself. It's all so beautiful whatever it is, and you can feel that way too."

I've had the clue jar since the days of Best Internet, at the
start of the Web boom. It was a jar of marshmallow creme.

Insofar as I may be heard by anything, which may or may not care what I say, I ask, if it matters, that you be forgiven for anything you may have done or failed to do which requires forgiveness. Conversely, if not forgiveness but something else may be required to insure any possible benefit for which you may be eligible after the destruction of your body, I ask that this, whatever it may be, be granted or withheld, as the case may be, in such a manner as to insure your receiving said benefit. I ask this in my capacity as your elected intermediary between yourself and that which may not be yourself, but which may have an interest in the matter of your receiving as much as it is possible for you to receive of this thing, and which may in some way be influenced by this ceremony. Amen.

You know, it may damn well be that this quote has been lurking in my subconscious for years and has just now resurfaced.

So, you think you're a militant agnostic, eh? Prove it!!!!
