soccer report

Blasters lost its last game (ever) to DOC, 6-5.  My defense let me down by leaving the one guy on DOC, the large, burly guy with the cannon leg, unmarked all too often, which let him shoot at will and score at least 4 goals (one of which was really not their fault; the ball just managed to bounce to him and he took a quick shot).  Even though i feel that the defense let me down, i'm unhappy with my reflexes nonetheless; i didn't seem to react properly to his shots.  Their goalie was obviously not their starter, and yet he managed to play well in the air and happened to be in the right place in the right time and saved a bunch of shots that were destined to hit the net.

As to the (ever) bit, our captain informed us a couple of weeks ago that he wouldn't be able to manage the team in the coming session due to his workload.  After some e-mail exchange, one of the guys stepped up and offered to be the new captain.  Because we were too late to register the team for next session, the only available slot was Thursday, and too many people couldn't make Thursdays, so we agreed to sit out one session and come back after that.  However, other people had other ideas, and decided to take about 2/3 of the team with them to join a new team for next session; this was done after we'd agreed to stick together in the first place.  As a result, Blasters is no more and a few of us were left teamless in the wake of events.  I am not pleased by this underhanded change.  A couple of the other teamless guys said that another team of theirs might need a goalie, so if that pans out, that'll be good.
