soccer report

Last Monday, Blasters won their last game of the session, beating D.O.C 8-5.  We had a great game; we actually had only 3 guys besides me, so instead of playing all 3 at a time, we played 4 girls and 2 guys.  D.O.C's last goal came in the waning seconds of the game when one of them caught me way out of the box and lobbed a perfect kick from ¾ down the field.  Embarrassing, but hey, no biggie.

The main thing I couldn't get used to entirely as goalkeeper was the fact that a missed shot rapidly became a centering pass as the ball caromed off the walls. Each game made me a blithering wreck.

Ah, another goalie. Yes, that took me a while to get used to. The worst to me are the carom goals: off the wall, off some part of my body, in.

I was a goalie mostly because of my skill profile:
Hands: Good
Speed, 1st 2 step: Excellent
Speed, 3rd step+ : Abysmal

The worst goals for me were the ones that ricocheted off of a defender, then off me, then in. I found myself angry at the defender for no good reason.
